Mathematical Development

A rich range of resources stimulate children to count, order and measure, to experiment with numbers, shapes and patterns.

With adult support children have the opportunity to use mathematical language and to develop mathematical ideas and methods to solve practical problems.

Children are encouraged to use and become familiar with numbers and to talk about and recognise simple geometric shapes. They begin to to understand positional vocabulary and they to discover mathematical concepts through songs and games and imaginary play. These activities ensure that children can develop confidence in their own mathematical abilities.
